INDEPENDENT CYCLING AND WALKING HOLIDAYS IN FRANCE
CYCLING TOURS IN THE LOIRE, BURGUNDY OR THE DORDOGNE
We have developed a number of independent cycling tours to suit everyone! These meticulously designed routes allow you to discover for yourself the delights of rural France.
There are no limits, you can cycle at your own whim but you will be accompanied by our exclusive cycling guide researched and written by us. The guide includes cycling notes and maps indicating virtually every lane or track you may wish to explore, along with places of interest, châteaux, cafés and picnic spots.
We are pleased to offer linear, circular or centre based tours. The linear and circular tours follow a route changing hotels every second night. This gives you the opportunity to explore the area in a little more detail and regulate your pace according to your needs. On a centre based holiday you spend your time at a farmhouse or cottage allowing you to get to know the area intimately, do as much self catering as you wish, and not having to repack your bags every day.
Bikes are hired locally. That way we support local businesses and it offers you a support system taking care of any repairs that might be required. Simply provide us with your height and inside leg measurement and your bike will be awaiting your arrival. The bikes are hybrids - a cross between touring and mountain bikes that's perfect for the distances and terrain you'll be covering. We'll provide you with a repair kit containing a spare inner tube and puncture repair kit. However, you will need to know how to repair your own puncture! We also provide you with panniers to carry your picnic and supplies for the day.

This is slow travel at its finest! Whether walking along trails in the Chinon forest, canal paths in Burgundy or spectacular prehistoric caves in the Dordogne you will be able to explore some of the most scenic areas of France with complete freedom.Any reasonably fit person can enjoy a walking holiday with confidence. Different people walk at different rates which is the attraction of this type of holiday. You are free to wander and explore at your own pace. The walks cover distances of 12 to 15 kilometres per day and take between four and seven hours to complete. The grade is easy to moderate with undulating terrain. In hilly areas the distances are shortened accordingly. Once again detailed maps and trip notes created by us will indicate places of interest, the best cafes and patisseries, as well as recommendations on the ideal picnic spot. You don’t have to worry about carrying your luggage as it is all transferred for you and will be waiting for you at your destination. With a linear, point to point tour, you can have two nights in each location. This allows you to choose a shorter route for the second day, immerse yourself in the town or village, or discover regional specialties be it food, wine or crafts.
